Demetrio Schintu, vibraphonist and composer, was born in Italy and followed his early education between Rovereto and Trento (TN, Trentino-Alto Adige). Already from the age of six years old, Demetrio started connecting to music by studying flute, later switching to drums and classical percussion and being admitted to Trento's high music school and conservatoire in 2013.
The main big change in Demetrio's study career happened during his bachelor in classical percussion, when he began getting passionate about jazz music and the vibraphone. After graduating from Trento in July 2022, he moved to The Netherlands to start a journey at the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague, where he graduated in the jazz vibraphone bachelor course in June 2024. He is now finishing his masters course in the same field of study.
Demetrio Schintu is the founder of his homonymous band "Demetrio Schintu Quartet", that pushes the boundaries of modern jazz sound within the Dutch and the European scene. Mainly based on Demetrio's original repertoire, the quartet is as close as you can get to the artist's heart and ideas regarding today's constantly evolving movement for this genre.
Demetrio regularly has been, and is currently collaborating with many realities within jazz and other genres, including big bands (Niccolò Angioni, Stefano Gullo, Esther Fernandez), orchestras (Orchestra SetteNovecento, Scuola Musicale Jan Novàk, Orchestra Oto Vicenza) and other combos, always striving and expanding his limits as a side man and musician.
Adding to his fulfilling and exciting career, Demetrio also puts his efforts and big passion in teaching as well, making sure to pass onto his students not only clear, tangible and precious knowledge, but also his own motivation and mentality as a musical artist and thinker.
Demetrio Schintu's accomplishments are a great sign of music's continuous moving forward and evolving, giving his audiences the occasion to connect deeply to this art form in any genre.
